Suzi's Giraffe's :: Giveaway 7

Today's great giveaway is from Suzi with Starbright Baby, here's a little about Suzi and her giraffes:

Our family is new to Western Michigan.  We moved to Hudsonville in June for my husband to take a position at GVSU after living in Pennsylvania, Missouri and Arkansas all in the last 20 months.  We have three little ones; Aaron is 4.5, Isaiah is 22 months, and Elsa is 6 months old.  I'm excited to be settled in one place and hope that we have found our forever home.

I came up with the Teething Giraffe pattern after we received something similar for a baby gift from friends. My little one loved it, but so did my 3-year-old niece! When we asked where we could get another one, our friends told us that it had been made by their grandmother who had passed away. I figured out how I could make one with a few aesthetic changes and before my niece left to go home we had a herd of giraffes in the house!

Your little one will be delighted with their very own Teething Giraffe! The neck and head are the perfect size for little hands to grasp and chew. Babies enjoy playing with the ears and tail, and the legs are easy to grab!

This teether is all natural and BPA free! (a huge advantage over traditional plastic teethers)

All of my Teething Giraffes are made using 100% pre-washed cotton fabric and they are stuffed using Eco-friendly Fiberfill. The stuffing is 100% renewable and plant-based, as well as hypo-allergenic.

Every giraffe is stuffed as tight as I can get it. It makes for a firm toy for your little one to cut teeth on. If your baby likes something cold, you can dip the head of your giraffe in water and stick it in the freezer for a bit!

These giraffes were designed for teething babies, but they are also a favorite toy for toddlers and pre-schoolers!

The Teething Giraffe is approximately 8" tall, 3" long and 1.5" wide. They are each handmade with love, so sizing may vary slightly. Fabric pattern placement may vary from the photos.

I recommend spot cleaning or hand washing only because the neck tends to crease if the giraffes are put in the washer and dryer. If you don't mind that (and frankly, baby using the giraffe will cause that too!) then they are fine for the washer and dryer. I washed my son's first giraffe in the washer and dryer all the time.

These giraffe's are so fun and colorful... make sure you check out her etsy store and facebook page for lot's more fabulous pictures.

I really wish I had a need for a Giraffe Teether right now...well, maybe not the teether part, I don't need another teething baby in my life, that is one stage I can say I'm happy to have behind me.  But, I bet my daughter would love to play with one of these... hmmmmmm!  And, if I DID have a teething baby, or even a baby that wasn't teething but just loved to put everything in his or her mouth, I would definitely try one of these giraffe's!

Suzi has generously offered to let the winner choose a teether of their choice from her shop!  So, now for the details:

What's Wrong with Me? {In the Word Wednesday}

We are all guilty of asking "What's Wrong with Me?"... came across this devotion this morning that I felt was really good, hopefully it is helpful to one of our blog readers as well.  (This came from Proverbs 31 Ministry)

What's Wrong With Me
“And he said, ‘Who told you that you were naked?…’” Genesis 3:11a (NIV)
Do you ever ask yourself: What’s wrong with me?

One day I noticed how many times I do. When I lose my keys, when I’m mean to my husband, when I don’t keep a commitment, when I’m late for a meeting, when I yell at my kids, when I forget to do something important—the list goes on.

It dawned on me that every time I asked, “What’s wrong with me?” I was actually telling myself something was wrong with me. Then I would try to figure out my elusive fault so I could change it.

I realized what I needed to change was the way I talked to myself. I didn’t want to keep convincing myself something was wrong with me every time I asked, What is wrong with me?

That’s not what God wants us doing to ourselves. However, we have an enemy who loves to cast the shadow of self-doubt over us. He tries to get us to focus on all that is wrong with us (real or perceived), instead of anything that is right with us.

Scripture tells us that when Satan lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies (John 8:44). The word lie means a falsehood with the intent to deceive. Satan intends to deceive our hearts by getting us to take our eyes off of who we are in Christ and focus on our flaws—then spend our days figuring out how we can hide them.

One of his goals is to get us to believe lies that leave us feeling inadequate and unsure of ourselves. It’s just what he did with Eve in the garden. In fact, I wonder if Eve might have thought, What’s wrong with me? when she became aware of her inadequacy.

Then the eyes of both [Adam and Eve] were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.
Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was walking in the garden…and they hid from the LORD God…But the LORD God called to the man, “Where are you?”
He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.” (Gen. 3:7-10, NIV 1984)

In verse 11 God responds with a question, asking Adam who told them they were naked. In other words, “Who told you that something is wrong with you?” By asking this, God acknowledged there was someone casting shame on them—and it wasn’t Him.

I believe He wanted them to be aware of their enemy who was whispering lies into their hearts, causing them to move away from Him and from each other. God also wants us to be aware that we have an enemy who is constantly trying to convince us that we’re inadequate and that something is wrong with us.

Sadly, we often go along with Satan’s lies and live like they are true. Rarely do we stop to ask, “Who is saying these things? Who is causing me to doubt myself? Is it me? Is there something from my past that led me to believe this? Or is it the enemy of my soul disguising his voice as my own?”

But we can change that today. First, we need to realize Satan’s schemes are the same for us as they were for Eve. Second, we need to determine we are not going to keep falling into his traps. Instead we can refute his lies and accusations with truth. If we have put our trust in Christ as our Savior, we can stand on these promises:
• When we feel defeated, God says, “In all these things [you] are more than [a conqueror] through him who loved [you]…” (Rom. 8:37, NIV)
• When we feel worthless, God says, “You are precious and honored in my sight, and . . . I love you.” (Isa. 43:4, NIV)
• When we feel inadequate, God says, “‘You are my witnesses,’ declares the LORD, ‘and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he.’” (Isa. 43:10, NIV)
Lord, help me recognize the enemy’s accusations and my own self-doubts. Please remind me of Your unconditional love and help me turn away from the lies so I can listen to and live in Your Truth! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Reflections:
When I feel like I’ve messed up, do I turn to God for His thoughts about me, or do I beat myself up with my own critical words? Would I talk to someone else the way I talk to myself?

Barriers {In the Word Wednesday}

Todays devotion is from Jesus Calling by Sarah Young.  If you haven't read this book before, let me just explain quick that it is written from Jesus perspective, in case there was any confusion!

Come to Me with your defenses down, ready to be blessed and filled with My Presence.  Relax and feel the relief of being totally open and authentic with Me.  You have nothing to hide an dnothing to disclose, because I know everything about you already.  You can have no other relationship like this one.  Take time to savor its richness, basking in My golden light.

One of the worst consequences of the Fall is the elaborate barriers people erect between themselves and others.  Facades abound in the world, even in my Body, the church.  Sometimes, church is the last place where people feel free to be themselves.  They cover up with Sunday clothes and Sunday smiles.  They feel relief when they leave because of the strain of false fellowship.  The best antidote to this artificial atmosphere is practicing My presence at church.  Let your primary focus be communing with Me, worshiping Me, glorifying Me.  Then you will be able to smile at others with My Joy and love them with My Love.

The $320,000 Kindergarten Teacher {In the Word Wednesday}

Got this in my inbox the other day from Steve Furtick and thought it could definitely be applicable to a few people!  Enjoy!

I read an article last year about the true value of a good kindergarten teacher that shocked and encouraged me.
The average kindergarten teacher makes around $30,000 a year. Research, however, has estimated that when you take into account the additional money kids who have a good kindergarten teacher go on to make, they are actually worth about $320,000 a year.
That’s not a typo. Really, they’re making 10x the impact their salary indicates.
It just goes to show you that what you do can’t define what you’re worth. That your salary does not necessarily correspond to your real value.
I think that should be encouraging for a lot of you.
For those of you who are working jobs where you’re pouring yourself out for the good of others or the Kingdom but not getting heavily compensated, you need to know that you’re more valuable than the number on your paycheck. What you’re doing and the impact you’re making is significant, even if your salary package isn’t.
For all of the people who volunteer during their free time to make their church run, I need you to know that you’re the real heroes and your investment is reaping eternal rewards. Just because you’re not making a paycheck doesn’t mean you’re not making a difference.
I doubt any of us are getting $320,000 raises any time soon. But maybe in the mean time we could give our perspectives a $320,000 raise and see that the value of what we’re doing is far greater than the money that we’re making.
Your worth is determined by the God who is in you and the impact He’s making through you. And believe me, it actually makes the $320,000 look like chump change.
Resource of the Day: For any of you who volunteer in a church, if you want to know just how much of an impact you really do make, check out a sermon I preached a few years back called “No-Show Sunday.” In one of the craziest moves we’ve ever made, we  gave all of our volunteers the weekend off. It was chaotic, but it proved a point: our volunteers are the most valuable resource we have.

Abbie's Bow Creations :: Giveaway Number 3

Today's giveaway is from Abbie's Bow Creations!

Jillinda says:
I am a stay at home mom to two little boys, 6 & 3, and a little girl Abbie, 2, who is the inspiration behind Abbie’s Bow Creations.  I started making bows when I couldn’t find simple, affordable bows for Abbie when she was a baby.  A year and a half later, Abbie’s Bow Creations has expanded to making bows, headbands, hat and flowers for newborns all the way up to teens and moms.  My goal is to make a bow that will grow with your child, so you are able to get the most out of your purchase.  Custom orders are always welcome, and shopping in my home is also available as I try to have a big inventory on hand.  I love that I have a way to express my creativity and that I get to stay at home with my little ones to do it.

These are just a few of the things that jillinda has created, you definitely have to check out her facebook page or her etsy store though, there is SO much there!

  Headband and bows are not just for little girls anymore. Headbands with fancy fabric have really come in style for teens and ladies.

And, she does custom orders!  Look at how fun these are:

My daughter has one of these in silver... LOVE it!  That headband is SO super soft, I didn't ever feel bad putting it on her!

 How sassy are these?  Love it!
